Did you really pay attention at conventions or assemblies?

a co-worker of mine whose family (2 daughters, wife) are jw's related a funny story yesterday.

his wife and daughters missed the friday portion of the convention last week in order to attend a wedding of a worldly relative.

at dinner she mentioned to him that she would go to the convention this friday to make up for the one she missed.. he then asked why and she said so she could get the information she missed.

A few years ago now, I think it was Southampton, we had streaker. He walked in wearing only boxer shorts, (attendants obviously asleep), dropped them and ran on to the field. A few attendants chased him and after an absolute age caught him and put a sheet around him and took him away. That woke everyone up!

even if your kingdom hall had no partakers, please say so.. at the end of this thread i'll tally up the result to give a rough idea of partakers world wide!.

i'll start this thread off by saying that i attended 4 kingdom halls and there was a total of 3 partakers.

If you're taking bets then I'll go with less than 11,500,.... Gut feeling is say 11,327 partakers. Which isnt what I was on about above lol.

Sorry but it's quakery and wishful thinking. Some desperate and often terminally ill cancer patients even end up in hospital with cyanide poisoning from this. Not what you want to be doing if you are already dying is it?

The cell and the human body and the systems within them are FAR more complex than A+B=C. Cancer also is FAR more complex than A+B=C. There is no magic bullet.

Not what you want I know, .....but I did a spreadsheet calculating the likely number of what would be reasonably expected "genuine" partakers taking into account average death rates and the reducing averages based on all available previous partaker figures I could get my hands on.

This was done several years ago when the figures had been going UP for about 3 years and I KNEW something just wasnt right!

Anyway, the expected and calculated number of partakers came out to around 1,200 for about 6 years ago and would by now be a lot lower. Personally I'd now put a conservative figure on the it at well under 1,000.

Your method is going to be woefully inaccurate as your sample data will be too small,...

I should also point out this was when I believed and felt the 144,000 was literal and must by then have been filled. As it's now turned into a "free for all" and the partakers have shot up and the Genration doctine has changed again to allow young GB annointed members then the above becomes meaningless. .... and so does the whole belief system.

What good comes from joining a community like this for support/therapy?

okay so if anyone can give some imput on this, i would really appreciate hearing different opinions!.

(its downright impossible to make decisions, big or small, these days....sigh).

ive been thinking alot about the possible consequences and outcome of joining in on a community like this and using it as a form of therapy or a support group type setting when struggling over the witnesses.

I'd say ..... to not post your "personal experience" or "about me" post until you are good and ready to do so. Mine will come when Im out, not before. If you have nothing to lose or dont care who knows it's you, then go for it though ...

Otherwise it's the shared experience and feelings that help a lot to cement in your mind a roadmap to recovery.

Unless the intent of the question was about incest then I doubt it somehow. If your 25 yr old "child" is having sex, then they are still your child, get me? The term is not soley used for minors.

Tis strange indeed how the possible consequences of it was never CLEARLY pointed out, like in most normal contracts they have what are know as "the small print" with the possible sanctions, consequences and penalties of voiding Said contract.

I know of an Elder who was deleted for both allowing his non JW daughter to live with her boyfriend in one of his own properties prior to marriage and then going to that wedding thereby giving his blessing to the arrangement despite warnings from fellow elders not to do so.

So he gave his approval and got the repurcussions for it.
